I created the design for this accent table over a year ago. It’s still one of my favorites that I did for a client. It was originally a deep brown finish with a flat top. I painted and distressed the base of the table. Then for the top I heavily textured it with plaster, and added crackle finish. I stenciled the top with the French design then added gold accents to the lettering. I distressed the lettering, then glazed and sealed with polycrylic. Voila!
These little tiny antique tables stole my heart! They were actually my husband’s grandparent’s tables that were handed down to his cousin. She decided to bring them to me to give them the full on distressed look. They were already fully painted white several times over, with organic aging…I just had to really amp up the aging with lots of elbow grease and persistence. I gave them a coat of sealer and sent her back home. They just don’t make furniture like this anymore. Detail, detail, detail … Yes!
As holidays are approaching fast, I knew that I would have a scoop of time to get my “home office” completed before Christmas. I will post the pieces that I revamped for my office a little at a time. This piece in particular is one of my favorites. The beauty of my office makeover is that I only spent money on paint…everything else was reused, upcycled and refigured 🙂
Here are some closer views…..
